Last year we had a bookmark contest at the library (open to anyone, not just children) and it went over very well! We had some beautiful submissions. Here are our rules for this year:
Submit your bookmark design on an 8 1/2 by 2” piece of paper.
Print your name, age, school, etc. on the back of your entry.
Anyone is eligible to enter.
Dates of the contest are March 9 through April 22, 2009.
All entries will be displayed for viewing at the Greenwood County Library.
The winners will be announced on April 22.
Three winners will be selected by the Greenwood County Library Board.
First Place Award will be $50.00
Second Place Award will be $30.00
Third Place Award will be $20.00
All three winning entries will be printed and used in the library.
This was really a lot of fun. Adults submitted entries as well as children and we had color bookmarks printed up that looked very, very nice. They were also very popular with the public. Hmm, wish I still had some to show you.
I think the nicest part was that everyone was able to see all the entries as they were submitted throughout the month that the contest ran. We attached them to those foamboard displays in our main circulation area (which admittedly is not very large at this writing).
Costs: awards, foamboard displays (we needed two - may need more this year), and printing of all three winners.
Value in Public Relations: Priceless.
